The door slowly creaked to a close, sending shivers down her spine. They were alone now and he was still staring into her soul. Why did Petra have to leave them alone?!

Levi, on the other hand, decided to be realistic about the situation. He pushed all unearthly thoughts from his mind and straightened his back so he could speak clearly. “You want to work here?”

His booming voice made her flinch but she made sure to respond quickly and as confidently as she could. “Yes! I've been looking for a job for a while now. Petra said I was perfect for this so...if you will have me, I wa-”

“I don't let just anyone into my company, {Name}, even if they were guided here by my secretary.” He eyes met her own and he watched as she gulped. “I-I see. Then, what can I do to prove myself?”

“Since this interview was thrown on me, I want to set up a real one. Tomorrow, 9 AM. At a nearby coffee shop. I want to see your writing skills for myself so bring your works.” What she did next made him question what the hell was going on even more.

She expressed that giddiness he remembered seeing in his dreams. That large grin and those glowing eyes made him get that familiar pang in his gut all over again.

“Y-Yes, sir! I won't disappoint you!” Her confidence seemed to rise as she skipped from his office with her head held high.

“Ah! She's a cutie! Is she gonna work for us?” Hanji pranced in right after the female, ecstatic as always. Levi ignored her and turned his attention to his computer, fingers working quickly as he typed.

“Whatcha writing?” Of course, the brunette peeked over his shoulder to spy on his actions. “Erwin, I have something I must speak with you abo-”

“Stop reading my email, shitty glasses!” He growled as he gently shoved her away from him. “Erwin..? Oh yeah! He's that buddy of yours! I remember him! What do you need to speak to him about? I don't think he works for our company, Levi.”

“Damn it, Hanji. It's none of your business. Get back to work before I fire you.”

“You wouldn't! I'm your best friend!” The low growl emitting from his chest stated otherwise. “Fine..” With a slight pout on her features, the female left his office. It was going to be a long day..

Once work time came to an end, he headed to his apartment and fixed himself a nice, hot cup of black tea. A peaceful sigh escaped his lips as soon as the heat of the cup was felt on the tips of his fingers...but as the fresh scent traveled to his nostrils, his eyes widened.

In a flash, he remembered many dreams he had before. That scent brought him back. He remembered sitting at an old table with people he felt he knew well. He could feel his connection with these people and he could sense their importance.

“Corporal, Do you want more tea?” That voice! His body jolted and his trance came to an end at the sound of his crashing tea cup.

“Shit!” He growled through clenched teeth. What the hell was going on with him? His head was starting to pound.

Levi grabbed his cell and called the only person he knew to call. Erwin.

“Levi? It's late. What do you need?” Thank god the bastard answered.

“It's happening again. Those dreams. It's like I'm living another damn life. Every night, it gets worse and worse. Erwin, I'm starting to see people I saw in those dreams. I know their voices, I know how they act before I even really get to know them!”

“How many people are you talking about, Levi?”

“It's...It's just one person. She came in to apply for a job and I already knew who she was and what she acted like.”

“Are you sure you never met her before?”

“Positive. She had no idea who I was.” Levi heard Erwin sigh on the other line. Did he not know what was going on either? “Erwin...I dread sleeping. I can't do this shit anymore.”

“Just try to wait it out a little until I can make room for you in my schedule. I'm sorry, Levi. I know that you said this 'idea' wasn't possible but...You could be remembering these events from a past life.”

“Tch. That's idiotic.” Erwin placed a hand on his own forehead. He knew Levi would totally deny that idea. “Well, If you keep ignoring them, It's going to get worse. You may need to fight this battle on your own.”

“Dammit, You don't help as much as you think you do, Erwin.” The line went dead then leaving Erwin alone on the phone. Of course. No one could help. When Levi shut his eyes tonight, more friends would die and he'd be alone in that world to meet new people who faced the same fate.

He was tempted to make more tea but that just led to his own suffering. All he could do was watch the clock tick and stay up all night...

“Corporal Levi! We are going to retreat! There's too many!” The voice of a cadet echoed in his mind as he turned away from her dead body. “Is that...{Name}?”

Levi didn't answer him, getting back on his horse and gesturing for him to do it as well. His expression was lifeless as the pain of losing someone important shook him to the core.

The whole ride back resulted in more deaths and a solemn feeling floating in the air around all who survived the expedition. Cadets murmured as Levi guided his horse to the stall. Even if they thought he couldn't hear him, he could. He could hear everything.

“Corporal's wife died.” “I heard he tried to save her but it was too late.” “Wow, he's not even crying..”

His wife. His own damn wife couldn't be saved by him and he was humanity's strongest.

His room seemed to be even more lonely than before he met her. The silence was suffocating and accompanied that overwhelming sadness he failed to express.

The bed was empty but her pillow still lie beside his. The bathroom was empty but two toothbrushes sat in a holder waiting to be used. Her clothes hung in his closet but he'd never see her dressed in any of them again.

“Dammit..” He whispered with a heavy heart. “Dammit!” Levi's eyes snapped open to reveal the ceiling of his living room. Not again...He must have dozed off. He rose up from his uncomfortable position in the chair, shifting his gaze to the ticking clock that was about to chime 8.

He wasn't ready for this meeting. If this shit was all from his past life, then that meant this girl was his wife. That just didn't make sense which meant Erwin's theory was as stupid as ever.

Levi moved from the chair and into the bathroom that he was scared to enter. He felt he was going to see that toothbrush. He was afraid to open his closet because he could see her clothes hanging there. He tried not to look at his bed because what if her pillow was there? What if that 'past life' replayed in the real world and he lost her again?

What the hell was he thinking? That's crazy. It couldn't happen. He had no idea who she even was yet. She was just going to become a co-worker and work beside him. It would be like when he hired Petra or Eren. No big deal.

It struck time for the interview to begin. The scent of coffee perked {Name} up in no time and she seemed as confident as ever. Finally! She was going to get a job and lead a life of happiness and independence!

Her heels clacked against the hard flooring of the coffee shop, signaling her ultimate arrival to her soon-to-be boss. “Sir! I-It's me, {Name}! I'm glad we both made it right on the dot.”

“Yeah..We were always strict about that.” Her expression shifted into a confused one. We? We as in her and him?

“I mean, I.” Where did that even come from? That 'we' shit? He would scare her away with all that talk.

“Oh! Well, I am too, so I guess the 'We' does apply.” Levi only nodded his head, heart skipping a beat as she sat herself across from him. He watched as her lips moved but no words seemed to reach his ears. He focused on her subtle movements such as drinking her coffee or smiling.. That familiar feeling seemed to intensify the more he watched her...

He could see the flashes of her presence in his memory. Her smile. Her laugh. Her eyes. Her visage. It was so familiar and he wanted it back. He wanted to see so much more of it that he was going crazy. Who was she?! How was she having so much control over him?!

“S-Sir!!” Her voice snapped him out of it. Shocked eyes rested upon him and his co-worker and made the whole coffee house quiet.

There he was, leaning over the table, their noses inches away from each other. He could feel her hot breath on his cheeks and when his steel eyes met hers, he could see the fear resonating within them.

Calmly, Levi sat back in the booth and took a hold of his coffee. He silently waited for everyone to mind their own business and once voices captured the silence again, he opened his mouth to speak to her.

“You got the job. Good work.”

The next thing {Name} heard was the door bell which meant her boss took his leave. She didn't even get to say 'Thank you' or show him her writings at all. She was just left sitting stunned in a coffee shop booth.

Should she chase after him and ask him if everything was alright? Oh, she wanted to...but she couldn't help that feeling of fear that sat in the back of her mind.

Maybe..She should accept the job..and do her best to avoid him.
I spent such a long time writing this. My thoughts were all over the place and stuff just kinda came to me right as I was typing it. But it's up! I really like where this is going and I hope I didn't make Levi out of character. I'm trying my absolute best to make him react as he would if this were to really happen. I hope it's interesting to you all! There's quite a bit going on in this chapter so I'm so sorry if you find it stupid to read and what not, but it felt great to type out!

Looks like Levi's reoccurring dreams are driving him crazy but that's what makes everything exciting. How is he going to handle her presence if she decides to go around him? Hmm...
:giggle:
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and are hungry for more~
